Afeez Adewale Extradited to U.S. on Sexual Extortion Charges

Afeez Adewale, aged 26, was extradited from Nigeria to the United States to face serious charges including sexual extortion and death related to a young man. His arrest occurred in August 2023 as part of a broader FBI operation aimed at targeting sexual extortionists preying on minors in the U.S.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania confirmed the extradition, which took place on February 13, 2026.

Adewale is charged with wire fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy, and he is set to appear in federal court in Philadelphia before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lynn Sitarski.

The FBI acknowledged the support of Nigerian security authorities, including the Attorney General and the Federal Ministry of Justice. Adewale's co-defendants, Imoleayo Samuel Aina and Samuel Olasunkanmi Abiodun, were previously extradited and have faced convictions related to similar charges.

Aina received a six-year prison sentence for cyberstalking and extortion, while Abiodun was sentenced to five years for money laundering and wire fraud.
