FG Launches Tractor Financing to Boost Agriculture

On Friday, the Nigerian Federal Government officially launched a mechanization financing initiative, targeting a nationwide rollout of tractors to modernize agriculture and boost food production. The initiative was disclosed during a commissioning event for the Afcott Grain sesame processing facility in Kawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, highlighted the need for strong integration of industrial capacity across the agricultural value chain to ensure sustainable food security. The project aims to unlock long-term funding for equipping 774 local government areas with tractors, which is expected to improve farm productivity and strengthen national food security.

Shettima also inaugurated an industrial plant, reflecting the administration's commitment to food sufficiency and agro-industrial transformation. The Kano State government, represented by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Chief of Staff Dr.

Suleiman Wali, has made significant investments in mechanization and irrigation infrastructure to attract private investment in line with federal agricultural policies.
