NASSCO Integrates 15.6 Million NINs for Cash Transfers

The Federal Government has integrated the National Identification Numbers (NINs) of 15.65 million Nigerians into the National Social Register to strengthen cash transfers aimed at poor and vulnerable households. This initiative, managed by the National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), aims to improve beneficiary identification and eliminate inaccuracies in records.
As of October 2026, over 13.3 million households have updated records across 771 locations in Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The National Social Register now includes 21,114,531 households, representing 83,162,654 individuals.
However, approximately 7.78 million households remain unupdated. NASSCO reported that 11,347,989 households have at least one member with an integrated NIN, accounting for 53.74 percent of registered households.
The state-by-state breakdown shows Ebonyi with the highest coverage at 88.08 percent, while Delta has the lowest at 25.31 percent. Inclusion in the register does not guarantee cash transfers, as it serves primarily as a database for identifying eligible beneficiaries.
