Nigeria's Bola Tinubu Sets 95% NIN Coverage Target

On September 16, President Bola Tinubu announced Nigeria's goal to achieve 95% National Identification Number (NIN) coverage by December during the National Identity Day celebration in Abuja. Represented by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, he stated that approximately 142 million people have already enrolled.

The expansion strategy includes ward-level registration, mobile enrollment, and the involvement of licensed agents. A total of 173 private companies, 30 state governments, and 14 public institutions are now licensed to participate in the enrollment process, which requires capturing information, operating equipment, supervising registration, and supporting applicants.

Tinubu emphasized the potential job opportunities for enrollment officers, data professionals, and technology specialists. However, the announcement did not disclose contract values, partner earnings, or payment terms, leaving the profitability of participation unclear.

Additionally, there is potential for further business development in identity verification for organizations post-registration.
