FG Invests N10.5bn in Digital Training Academy for Youth

The Federal Government of Nigeria has committed over N10.5 billion to establish the Digital Training Academy (DTA), aimed at equipping more than 32,000 young Nigerians with essential skills for the global digital economy. Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced this initiative on Monday in Abuja during the Academy's official launch.

The DTA is part of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Beneficiaries will receive six months of training on platforms such as Coursera and Pluralsight, culminating in certifications from leading global technology firms.

Training areas include ICT, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and more. To support learners lacking devices or connectivity, partnerships with the National Open University of Nigeria and Yaba College of Technology have been established.

The Academy also serves as a certification pathway for participants of the 3 Million Technical Talent programme. The initiative is expected to bolster Nigeria's digital economy and create pathways for remote employment.
