Nigeria Enrolls 16,000 Youths for Digital Skills Training

The Federal Ministry of Education, through Adebayo Onibanjo, the National Coordinator of the Special Projects and Innovation Unit (SPOIU), announced the enrollment of 16,000 youths for digital training at a media briefing in Abuja. This initiative, part of the Digital Training Academy (DTA), received 72,850 applications from across Nigeria during its registration period from August 17 to September 1, 2026.

Out of these, 19,699 applicants met the qualifying criteria, with 16,000 selected for the inaugural cohort. The DTA is implemented under the Nigeria Education Digital Infrastructure (NEDI) program, a key component of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), aimed at building a skilled workforce for the global digital economy.

Training will be conducted via international platforms Coursera and Pluralsight. The launch is scheduled for September 14, 2026, where further details about future cohorts will be provided.
