Nigeria Launches Digital Switch Over Platform for Growth

The Federal Government of Nigeria officially launched the Digital Switch Over (DSO) platform, a significant initiative aimed at transforming the country's broadcasting industry and boosting the economy. The launch, held at the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) headquarters in Abuja, was led by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Wednesday.

This project is expected to create jobs, stimulate local manufacturing, expand audience reach, strengthen content production, and increase advertising opportunities. Minister Idris emphasized that the DSO is not merely a technological transition but a critical step towards modernizing Nigeria's broadcasting sector.

The initiative reflects the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to digital transformation and economic growth. The launch followed extensive consultations with stakeholders across the broadcasting value chain, including signal distributors and content producers.

The government aims to promote indigenous technology and ensure that local creativity remains central to the broadcasting ecosystem.
