FG Launches N200 Billion Cooperative Bank Campaign

On June 18, 2026, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Sen. Dr.

Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, launched a N200 billion mobilization campaign for the establishment of a Cooperative Bank. This initiative is part of the Cooperative Reform Revamp Programme (CRRP) and aims to support 10,000 cooperative societies across Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory.

The campaign seeks to mobilize approximately N200 billion to create a sustainable cooperative financial institution capable of supporting agricultural development and enterprise growth. The program is designed to empower cooperative stakeholders and ensure continuity beyond the current administration.

The initiative includes the establishment of an inter-ministerial technical committee to coordinate policies and partnerships with apex cooperative organizations. The campaign is part of a nationwide advocacy tour, with the next engagement scheduled for the South West zone.

The initiative is expected to enhance financial inclusion and wealth creation for millions of Nigerians.
