Nigerian Government Cracks Down on Terrorists' Social Media Accounts

The Nigerian government, through the Nation Counter Terror Center led by Maj. Gen.

Adamu Laka, is ramping up efforts to shut down social media accounts associated with terrorist networks operating in the country. The move aims to prevent the spread of propaganda, fundraising, and showcasing of stolen items by terrorist groups on platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.

Laka highlighted the challenges of terrorists using false identities and aliases to evade detection, emphasizing the need for constant review of digital strategies to stay ahead of evolving tactics. Additionally, the government is focusing on monitoring ransom payments as a major source of funding for terrorist operations, especially in cases of kidnappings.
