Nigeria Sanctions Tukur Mamu, Simon Ekpa for Terrorism Financing

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially named Tukur Mamu, Simon Ekpa, and 46 other individuals as terrorism financiers. This sanction list, published on the sanction committee's website, includes individuals allegedly involved in financing terrorist activities linked to attacks such as the June 5, 2022, St.

Francis Catholic Church attack in Ondo State and the July 5, 2022, Kuje Correctional Centre assault in Abuja. Notable names on the list include Abdulsamat Ohida, described as a senior commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province, and Abdurrahman Abdurrahman, a senior commander of ISWAP.

The government accuses Mamu of receiving and delivering ransom payments exceeding $200,000 for the release of hostages from the Abuja-Kaduna train attack. Other individuals, such as Yusuf Ghazali and Surajo Abubakar Muhammad, are implicated in transferring millions of naira to support terrorist operations.

The list also includes various organizations associated with these individuals, such as Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladissudam and the Indigenous People of Biafra.
