Nigeria Unveils List of 48 Suspected Terrorism Sponsors

The Federal Government of Nigeria has publicly released a list of 48 individuals and groups alleged to be involved in financing terrorism across the country. This move is part of an intensified crackdown on extremist networks and follows the conclusion of the ninth phase of a mass trial involving 500 suspects linked to Boko Haram.

The list, published by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee, includes already proscribed groups such as the Indigen Peoples of Biafra and Ansaru, as well as the Islamic State West Africa Province. Notable individuals on the list include Simon Ekpa, a self-styled separatist leader convicted in September 2025 for terror-related offenses, and Tukur Mamu, who faces multiple terror charges related to his alleged role in negotiating ransoms for kidnappers.

Mamu's trial is set to begin on April 23, 2024. The list also names various entities suspected of being involved in financing terrorism, highlighting the government's ongoing efforts to combat extremist activities.
