Nigeria Promotes Electric Vehicles for Sustainable Transport

On Thursday, the Federal Government of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to promoting electric vehicles (EVs) as part of efforts to modernize the transport sector and advance the country's green energy agenda. This commitment was made during the inauguration meeting of the Electric Vehicle Association of Nigeria (EVAN) held in Abuja.

Key government officials and industry stakeholders stressed the need for stronger collaboration to position Nigeria as a major player in Africa's electric mobility revolution. Princess Zahrah Audu, Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, congratulated EVAN and described the initiative as a bold, visionary step toward shaping the future of transport and energy in Nigeria.

President Bola Tinubu's administration remains committed to building a modern, competitive, and innovation-driven economy. The meeting highlighted the importance of electric vehicles in meeting Nigeria's climate obligations and promoting cleaner energy adoption.

Kingsley Udeh, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, emphasized the need for coordinated plans and public-private collaboration to drive the transition to electric mobility.
