Nigerian Government Recalls Retired Air Traffic Controllers to Address Manpower Crisis

The Nigerian government has recalled 57 retired air traffic controllers to tackle the current manpower crisis in the aviation sector, aiming to address staff shortages and operational fatigue. The move follows concerns over the shortage of staff and fatigue among service personnel, threatening the efficiency and safety of Nigeria's airspace operations.

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the recall as part of efforts to bridge the manpower gap in the country's air traffic management system. The Nigerian Air Traffic Control Association (NATCA) has been advocating for urgent interventions to recruit, train, and retain qualified professionals in the sector.
