Nigerian Government Secures Release of 130 Abducted Schoolgirls and Teachers in Niger State

The Nigerian government, through the National Security Adviser's office, has successfully secured the release of the remaining 130 abducted students and teachers from St. Mary's Catholic School in Niger State.

The victims were abducted by armed bandits on November 21, with some managing to escape. The release followed negotiations with the abductors, although it remains unclear if a ransom was paid.

The school kidnapping in Niger State is one of the largest recorded, with over 800 pupils abducted from separate attacks. The freed victims are receiving medical attention and will be reunited with their families.
