Nigerian Government Forms Committee to Address Power Generation Companies' Debts

The Nigerian Federal Government has established a committee to tackle the lingering issue of unpaid debts owed by power generation companies (GenCos). The committee, led by Minister of Power Mahmuda Mamman, aims to ensure the financial sustainability of the power sector and prevent future debt accumulation.

During the 10th-anniversary celebration of the Association of Power Generation Companies of Nigeria (APGC) in Abuja, Mamman highlighted the importance of resolving the debt situation and commended GenCos for their resilience. Prominent figures like Bola Tinubu and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe also emphasized the need for finding lasting solutions to the debt burden.
