Nigeria to Host 2027 Intra-African Trade Fair in Lagos

On Tuesday, the Federal Government of Nigeria signed a host agreement to hold the fifth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Lagos from November 5-11, 2027. This agreement, made in partnership with the African Export-Import Bank, the African Union, and the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, marks Nigeria's formal takeover of hosting duties from Algeria, which hosted the fourth edition.

The IATF2027 aims to facilitate $50 billion in trade and investment deals, with expectations of 100,000 visitors and 2,500 exhibitors from 100 countries. The event will focus on themes such as global market access and will feature various programs, including trade exhibitions and forums.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, chairperson of the IATF2027 Advisory Council, emphasized the significance of this milestone for Nigeria and the African continent. The event is seen as an opportunity to strengthen intra-African trade and investment, with a commitment to mutual benefit and rule-based trade.
