FG Threatens Contract Revocation Over Abuja–Lokoja Highway Delays

The Federal Government threatens to revoke the ₦56 billion Abuja–Lokoja Highway contract due to delays in execution. Minister of Works, David Umahi, expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress during his inspection.

The contractor switched from asphalt to concrete, causing delays. Umahi warned of contract termination if progress doesn't improve by November.

He emphasized timely payments and hinted at splitting the project among multiple contractors if necessary. Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, labeled the highway a priority project.

The government aims to eliminate funding excuses and ensure timely completion. Outstanding payments will be settled within 30 days.

The project's future phases may involve new contractors.
