Umahi Mulls Termination of Lokoja-Ayingba, Okene-Itobe Road Contracts

Minister of Works, David Umahi, is considering terminating the contracts for the Lokoja-Ayingba and Okene-Itobe roads due to delays in project completion. The contracts were awarded in 2022 to CCECC Nig Ltd and TEC Engineering Company Nig Ltd, with a completion deadline of 2024.

Despite receiving advance payments, the contractors have only achieved a small percentage of the work. Umahi emphasized the government's commitment to quality and timely project delivery, in line with President Bola Tinubu's infrastructure revolution.

The contractors have been given a 30-day ultimatum to resume work at the old rate or face termination. The ministry will procure the remaining sections of the project for enhanced funding and execution.

The decision was made during a meeting attended by key officials from the Federal Ministry of Works, contractors, and representatives from Kogi State government.
