FG Threatens Social Media Platform Over Anti-Tinubu Post as Sowore Defies Removal Request

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a warning to a social media platform, X, over a critical post about President Tinubu. Activist Sowore, who posted the critical content, vowed to resist deleting the tweet despite the Department of State Services (DSS) requesting its removal.

The government accused Sowore of spreading misleading information that could incite violence and harm national security. Sowore defended his right to criticize the administration, citing constitutional protection of free speech.

The ultimatum given to the platform demanded the removal of the post within 24 hours to avoid further escalation.
