FG to Extend Abuja Rail Services to Five Northern Cities

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to extend rail services from Abuja to five northern cities: Zaria, Kaduna, Kano, Daura, and Katsina. Olufunsho Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, made this announcement on Friday during the maiden convocation ceremony of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Adebiyi stated that this development would create fresh employment opportunities for Nigerians and highlighted the government's significant investment in transport infrastructure. He mentioned that by January next year, passengers would be able to travel by train from Abuja to the mentioned cities.
Adebiyi, a graduate of NITT, praised the institute for its role in manpower development and announced automatic employment for the two best graduating students, along with scholarships for further education. Bayero Salih Farah, the Director-General of NITT, noted the institute's expansion into accredited programs and its commitment to professionalizing Nigeria's transport and logistics industry.
