FG Plans Low-Key Celebration for Nigeria's 65th Independence Anniversary

The Federal Government has announced plans for a low-key celebration of Nigeria's 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1st, 2025. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed that the theme for this year's celebration is "Hands on Deck." Activities for the anniversary will include Jummat prayers, a Thanksgiving service, the unveiling of the National Value Charter developed by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and a National Students Debate.

The National Value Charter aims to promote national pride and responsible citizenship, emphasizing core values such as equality, freedom, inclusivity, peace, entrepreneurship, and meritocracy. The Minister highlighted the importance of citizen responsibility and the need for discipline, accountability, tolerance, and environmental stewardship.
