Nigerian Government Allocates N30 Billion for Solar Grids and Inverters in 2026 Budget

The Federal Government of Nigeria has earmarked N30 billion in the 2026 budget for solar mini-grid projects and inverters to enhance power supply across the nation. Various government agencies and departments, such as the Nigerian Police Academy, Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, and Nigerian Space Research and Development Agency, have proposed investments in solar power generation and infrastructure.

The allocations range from N1.05 billion for mini-grid electrification in specific communities to N7 billion for constructing and installing sustainable energy solutions. The initiatives aim to improve electricity access, especially in areas prone to insecurity and to enhance productivity in sectors like agriculture and research.

The projects span different regions, including Ebonyi State, Zamfara, Adamawa, Ogun, Delta, Gombe, Oyo, and Yobe. The focus is on deploying renewable energy sources like solar power to boost energy efficiency and address power challenges in various sectors.
