FG Encourages Women to Embrace Trade Opportunities

On March 8, 2026, during the celebration of International Women's Day in Abuja, Jumok Oduwol, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, called on women to seize trade and entrepreneurship opportunities to bolster Nigeria's economy. She emphasized the importance of equipping women with the necessary knowledge and tools to benefit from government policies and emerging economic opportunities.

Oduwol encouraged women to explore sectors such as agribusiness, manufacturing, and export trade, and to leverage available grant funding programs designed to support enterprise growth. She reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to supporting women through training programs and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing their participation in trade and investment.

Nura Rimi, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, highlighted the progress made in promoting gender inclusivity, despite funding constraints, and assured that support for women-focused programs would remain a priority.
