FG Allocates N12bn for Digital Economy Research Support

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a budget of N12 billion to support research in the digital economy across universities and research institutions. Mr.

Isim Esen, a special adviser in the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, announced this initiative in a statement on Monday in Abuja. The program will commence with a three-day virtual open day starting April 7, 2023, aimed at guiding eligible institutions on the application process for funding.

The initiative will focus on mobilizing university-led research consortia to deliver policy-relevant research across six priority areas, including digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence. The virtual open day will provide clarity on application requirements and allow institutions to engage directly with the project implementation unit.

Interested institutions must register via an official link and submit their expressions of interest by 12:59 PM on April 13, 2023.
