Nigerian Government Warns Against Illegal Gas Operations After Ibadan Explosion

The Nigerian government, through the Ministry of State for Petroleum Resources, issued a warning against illegal gas operations after an explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State. The explosion, which occurred due to a tanker offloading liquefied petroleum gas at an illegal skid in a densely populated neighborhood, resulted in significant damage to nearby properties.

The government extended condolences to the affected families and emphasized the need for safety standards in gas handling. The Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has initiated a full investigation to determine the root cause and prevent future occurrences.
