FIFA Investigated for 2026 World Cup Ticket Complaints

FIFA is facing a probe concerning ticket pricing and seating complaints related to the upcoming 2026 World Cup. The investigation was confirmed in a joint statement by New York Attorney General Letitia James and New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport.

The inquiry will examine FIFA's dynamic pricing system, which allows ticket prices to fluctuate based on demand. Consumers have expressed concerns about being forced to pay higher prices for seats in certain sections, particularly those furthest from the pitch.

MetLife Stadium, which will host eight World Cup matches, including the final on July 19, is at the center of these complaints. Letitia James emphasized that consumers deserve a fair chance to afford tickets at reasonable prices.

In response, FIFA President Gianni Infantino defended the pricing strategy, stating that demand worldwide and limited availability have led to price increases, particularly for premium seats introduced later in the purchasing process.
