Dangote Sugar Returns to Profit with N41.5bn in H1 2026

Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc returned to profitability in the first half of 2026, posting a profit after tax of N41.51bn, a significant recovery from a N24.27bn loss in the corresponding period of 2025. This turnaround occurred despite an 8.9% decline in revenue, which fell to N391.85bn from N430.21bn.
The company achieved a notable reduction in the cost of sales, which decreased by 21.3% to N298bn from N378.53bn, resulting in a gross profit increase of 81.6% to N93.85bn. The gross margin improved to approximately 24% from 12% a year earlier.
Additionally, finance costs were reduced by 22.4% to N50.42bn from N64.97bn, alleviating previous financial pressures. Profit before tax reached N44.09bn, compared to a loss before tax of N22.11bn in 2025.
The second quarter showed strong performance with a profit after tax of N22.36bn, reversing a N626m loss in the same quarter of 2025. The results indicate that Dangote Sugar's recovery is driven by cost efficiency rather than sales growth.
