FirstPower Arrests Two for Transformer Vandalism in Anambra

FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Nonso Okolodile and Emeka Onyeugwo, for allegedly vandalizing a transformer at the Urunkpuke Distribution Substation in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State. The Head of Communications, Izunna Okafor, stated that the suspects were apprehended by the Nimo Vigilante Group after a report from the company’s Feeder Manager regarding the vandalism.
Following their arrest, the suspects were taken to the Nimo Divisional Police Station for preliminary investigation, with a request for their transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation. The vandalism of the transformer, a critical electricity distribution asset, disrupts electricity supply and incurs significant costs.
FirstPower reported 73 major cases of vandalism across the state from January to September, urging residents to report suspicious activities related to electricity infrastructure.
