Darwai Coast Ltd Invests $532,828 in Niger Delta Solar Project

Darwai Coast Ltd, a renewable energy firm, has invested $532,828 in a solar hybrid mini-grid project in the Niger Delta region, specifically targeting the Akeddei Community in Bayelsa State. The project, which is currently in its final installation stage, aims to deliver reliable and affordable electricity, thereby transforming livelihoods, stimulating economic activities, and improving essential services in the area.

Odetola, a representative of the company, stated that the project is expected to have a significant impact on the community, which has historically struggled with access to electricity. The initiative is part of a broader electrification effort in the Niger Delta, following the success of a pilot project in Oweikorogha that exceeded its initial target by connecting 451 homes and businesses.

The Akeddei project is designed to operate on a larger scale, estimating 1,058 connections once fully operational. Henri Ureh, the Chief Executive Officer of Darwai Coast Ltd, emphasized the company's long-term commitment to delivering reliable electricity to rural communities.
