Flood Alert: FG Lists States in Nigeria Predicted to Experience Heavy Rainfall, Mentions the Days

The Federal Ministry of Environment has issued a flood alert warning for seven states and 25 locations in Nigeria, predicting heavy rainfall on August 23 and 24 that could lead to flooding. The alert, signed by the director of the erosion flood coastal zone management department, Usman Bokani, directed residents in flood-prone areas like Jebba and Lokoja to evacuate immediately.

This warning comes after an earlier prediction of heavy rainfall lasting five days in 19 states and 76 locations in the country. The National Flood Early Warning Systems Centre also urged stakeholders and residents to take precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted thunderstorms and moderate rainfall across various regions, with heightened risks in specific states. The government is monitoring the situation closely and addressing concerns, including salary issues and minimum wage adjustments.
