Federal Government Warns 11 States of Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Threat

The Federal Government issued a flood alert to 11 states in Nigeria, warning of heavy rainfall from Sunday, September 14, to Thursday, September 18. The alert, issued by the Federal Ministry of Environment's National Flood Early Warning Centre, highlighted the risk posed by rising water levels in rivers like Gongola, Benue, and Niger.

The ministry urged vulnerable communities in floodplains to take precautions. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency also forecasted thunderstorms and light to moderate rain in several states.

The government advised prompt action to mitigate potential flooding impacts in affected areas.
