Flutterwave Celebrates 10 Years as Global Fintech Leader

Flutterwave, founded in 2016, celebrated its 10th anniversary at a gala night in Lagos, hosted by CEO Olugbenga Agboola. The company has become the most licensed non-bank entity globally, holding over 50 licenses and operating in 35 countries.

Agboola reflected on the challenges faced in the African payment system, particularly the inefficiencies in sending money from Lagos to Accra, which often required routing funds through New York. He emphasized Flutterwave's mission to expand market access for small businesses and enable seamless cross-border payments.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and Sierra Leone's Ernest Bai Koroma. Agboola acknowledged the company's reputation for integrity and reliability, having processed over $50 billion in transactions.

He reaffirmed Flutterwave's commitment to Nigeria as its home base while aiming to extend operations into the U.S., U.K., and European markets, encouraging entrepreneurs to leverage its platform for global business expansion.
