FMAFS and ACGSF Partner to Boost Agricultural Credit Access

On Tuesday, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, led by Sen. Abubakar Kyari, announced a partnership with the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund (ACGSF) to improve access to agricultural credit in Nigeria.

This collaboration aims to support farmers in achieving food sovereignty and economic diversification. During a courtesy visit from the ACGSF delegation, chaired by Dr.

Olusegun Oshin, Sen. Kyari emphasized the need for a conducive policy environment that enables direct access to credit for Nigerian farmers.

He noted that a robust partnership with agricultural financial institutions is crucial for the success of the agricultural sector in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration. Sen.

Aliyu Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, reiterated the importance of establishing a credible national farmer registry to ensure legitimate access to credit for agricultural entrepreneurs. The initiative seeks to deepen collaboration and expand the reach of the scheme to increase farmers' access to credit.
