FOBTOB Urges NAFDAC to Follow Federal Directive on Alcohol

The Food, Beverage, and Tobacco Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (FOBTOB) has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), led by Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, to comply with the federal government's directive to suspend the enforcement of the sachet alcoholic drinks ban.

This directive was issued jointly by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the National Security Adviser. Despite the directive circulating on social media, Prof.

Adeyeye labeled reports of halting the ban as false and misleading. Protests erupted at NAFDAC's Lagos office, where hundreds of workers blocked access to the facility, expressing their discontent over the ongoing ban, which they argue has led to significant job losses in the distillation industry.

Comrade Kolawole Buhari, the national vice president of FOBTOB, and Comrade Godwin Ahoh, Ogun State chairman, raised concerns about the deteriorating conditions in factories and the potential loss of 5.5 million jobs due to the ban.
