Kwara Governor AbdulRazaq Launches Support for Farmers

On Monday, Governor Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State launched the distribution of 49,337 agricultural inputs, productive assets, and processing equipment to local farmers and vulnerable households in Ilorin. This initiative, implemented under FADAMA CARES 2.0 and supported by the World Bank through the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES), aims to boost food security in the state.
With the addition of these new beneficiaries, the total number of individuals benefiting from the program rises to 235,567, including 186,230 who had previously received support. The governor emphasized the challenges faced by farmers, such as costly inputs and unpredictable weather, and stated that the program aims to alleviate these issues.
The distribution includes various agricultural inputs and equipment, such as sprayers, water pumps, and rice mills. Hon. Olohuntoyosi Thomas, the Commissioner for Livestock, noted the deployment of tractors to enhance agricultural mechanization, while Dr. Hauwa Nuru, the Commissioner for Finance, highlighted Kwara's leadership in program delivery.
