FIFA and CAF Meet NFF Stakeholders for Football Reforms

On September 15, 2026, a consultative meeting took place in Abuja between a delegation from FIFA and CAF and various stakeholders in Nigerian football, including former presidents and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The meeting was attended by notable figures such as former NFF presidents Sani Lulu and Aminu Maigari, former vice-president Senator Obinna Ogba, and former general secretaries Sani Toro, Barr Musa Amadu, Fanny Amu, and Bolaji Ojo-Oba.

Segun Odegbami represented Nigerian ex-internationals, while club owners were represented by Remo Stars chairman Hon Kunle Soname. The national leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) was also present, represented by president Isaiah Benjamin and secretary-general Ikenna Okonkwo.

This meeting was part of ongoing consultations directed by President Bola Tinubu following the resignation of the immediate past NFF president, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, last month. Participants did not disclose details about their submissions to the FIFA and CAF delegations.
