Court Allows Uche Nnaji to Retrieve Passport for Medical Trip

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the release of Uche Nnaji's international passport to facilitate his travel abroad for medical treatment. This decision followed a motion filed by Nnaji’s counsel, Chief Ogwu Onoja (SAN), on September 22.

Nnaji, who is 63 years old, is facing a six-count charge from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, which includes allegations of certificate forgery, false information, and corruption. He pleaded not guilty to these charges during his arraignment on July 13.

The charges, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/391/2026, claim that between August 2023 and October 2025, while serving as minister, Nnaji unlawfully received N29,578,466.67 as salary and allowances. The ICPC also accused him of presenting a forged National Youth Service Corps certificate and a false University of Nigeria, Nsukka degree certificate.

Following his arraignment, Nnaji was granted bail in the sum of N20 million with specific conditions, including the deposit of his passport with the court.
