Former Katsina Senator Bello Mandiya Dies at 62

At age 62, Bello Mandiya, who represented Katsina South during the Ninth National Assembly as a federal lawmaker, has passed away. His death occurred on Monday, September 7, 2026, and was confirmed by the Katsina State Government.
Officials announced that an Abuja funeral service would proceed on Tuesday. The governor's chief press secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed, delivered this announcement during Monday evening.
Governor Dikko Radda reacted with a statement conveying both shock and deep sadness regarding Mandiya's death, describing the loss as momentous for Nigeria and Katsina State alike. In his remarks, the governor recognized Mandiya as someone devoted to public service, emphasizing the contributions he made toward state and national advancement throughout his career in office.
From 2019 through 2023, Mandiya held his Katsina South seat in the Ninth National Assembly for a complete four-year period. At the time available statements were released, the circumstances surrounding his death remained undisclosed.
