Former Minister Laments Insecurity as Bandits and Insurgents Impose Laws and Taxes

Former Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen.

Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd), expressed concern over bandits and insurgents assuming control in communities, enforcing taxes and laws, exacerbating the insecurity crisis in Northern Nigeria. At a security summit in Kebbi State, he urged Northern governors to boost revenue generation to tackle poverty and reduce insecurity.

Meanwhile, Kaduna-based cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi clarified that the bandits attacking various states are not affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the Southeast. Recent attacks in Shanono Local Government Area resulted in casualties, adding to the ongoing violence in the region.
