Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha Receives First Senior Call-Up

The English Football Association announced the squads for the first international break of the 2026-2027 season, featuring 15 Nigeria-eligible players. Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha received his first senior call-up for UEFA Nations League matches against Spain, Czechia (2), and Croatia.

If he plays three matches, he will no longer be eligible for the Super Eagles. Arsenal loanee Ethan Nwaneri and Everton winger Tyrique George were named in the England U21 squad for Euro qualifiers against Kazakhstan, Slovakia, and the Republic of Ireland.

Nwaneri has five goals and two assists in 15 appearances for England U21s and was part of the squad that won the 2025 European Championship. Additionally, Wolverhampton Wanderers fullback Wesley Okoduwa, Arsenal midfielder Ife Ibrahim, and Chelsea striker Chizaram Ezenwata were included in the England U19s squad for friendlies against the Republic of Ireland, Norway, the United States, and Belgium.

England U18s, featuring Sam Alabi and Phoenix Offiah, will compete in the UEFA Friendship Cup in Switzerland. Arsenal's Vincent Joseph is among seven Nigerian players in the England U17 squad for a tournament against Israel, Venezuela, and Germany.
