Four Cultists Arrested in Akwa Ibom Crackdown

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command conducted a successful operation leading to the arrest of four suspected cultists and a security guard involved in vandalism. The operation, coordinated by Timfon John, targeted a hideout on Abak Road in Uyo, where three members of the notorious Vike confraternity—Dick Udofia, Emem Charl, and Ubong Matthew—were apprehended.

During the raid, police recovered methamphetamine and cannabis, commonly known as Indian hemp, linked to drug consumption. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ubong Matthew allegedly initiated into the cult group on July 5.

Separately, Joshua Akpan, a 32-year-old security guard, was arrested for vandalizing and stealing armored electrical cables. Police recovered tools used in the crime during a search of his residence.

The State Commissioner of Police, Baba Azar, commended the operation and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement.
