Nigerian French Language Village Wins Bilingual Debate

The Nigerian French Language Village (NFLV) won the inaugural Word-Wise Bilingual Series – University Edition, defeating five other tertiary institutions in a competition designed to promote bilingualism, leadership development, and African integration. The four-day event, organized by the Word-Wise Educational Support and Advancement Foundation in collaboration with the Embassy of France in Nigeria through the French Embassy Fund Bilingual And Competitive Project (FEF-BAC), involved student debaters from six universities in Nigeria's Southwest region, including the University of Ibadan and the University of Lagos.

Participants engaged in debates in both English and French on contemporary issues. The competition also featured an Africa Solution Room, where finalists developed solutions to challenges like youth unemployment and education.

Madam Magaly Losange, Cooperation Attaché at the Embassy of France, commended the participants for their confidence and engagement. Senami Ohiomokhare, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Word-Wise, emphasized the importance of bilingualism in cultivating a new generation of African leaders.
