Rivers State Governor Cancels ₦134bn Contract, Orders Refund of ₦20bn Fee

The Rivers State Executive Council, led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, canceled a ₦134 billion contract to reconstruct the state secretariat complex, directing a refund of ₦20 billion mobilization fee received. The council also approved a new bidding process for the project and other initiatives to address youth unemployment, education, and flash floods.

Prof. Ngozi Odu, the Deputy Governor, played a significant role in these decisions.

The council aims to enhance digital learning, infrastructure, and job creation. The contract was previously awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
