Fuel Tanker Accident Claims Lives of Pupils in Bayelsa

In Bayelsa, a tragic incident occurred when a fuel tanker owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) lost control and rammed into a tricycle carrying schoolchildren returning home from Ibelebiri on Wednesday. The tricycle, regularly used for transporting children, was parked near their residence when the accident happened.

Mr. Godstim Ik, the tricycle rider, reported that the children were crossing the road to enter their home when the tanker struck.

Unfortunately, some children were crushed in the incident, while one child managed to survive. Following the accident, the tanker driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by military personnel and handed over to the police for investigation.

The Bayelsa State Police Command, represented by DSP Musa Muhammad, confirmed the accident and stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. The community is left in deep shock and mourning over the tragic loss.
