Tanker Driver Flees After Fatal Crash in Lagos

A tragic incident occurred on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos, where a tanker driver fled the scene after colliding with a dispatch rider, resulting in the rider's death. The crash took place around Cele Bridge, as reported by Taofiq Ad, a spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The fully loaded tanker violently rammed into the motorcyclist, causing the rider to become trapped beneath the vehicle and die instantly. LASTMA operatives quickly cordoned off the area with caution tape to prevent secondary accidents and ensure the safety of other road users.

The deceased was later recovered from beneath the tanker and taken to the morgue in Yaba. Mr. Olalekan Bakar Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and described the incident as tragic and avoidable.

He called for a thorough police investigation into the cause of the crash to ensure that the fleeing driver is brought to justice.
