Germany Lists 31 Visa-Exempt Countries for Child Immigration

Germany has clarified the conditions for children moving to the country to live with their parents, announcing a list of 31 nations whose citizens are exempt from visa requirements. According to Germany's official position, children under the age of 18 are eligible for a temporary or permanent residence permit if either parent holds the right to reside in Germany.

The necessity of a visa for entry is contingent on the child's nationality. Children holding citizenship from any of the 27 European Union member states are allowed to enter without a visa for the purpose of joining their parents.

Additionally, children from the four European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states—namely Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland—are also exempt from visa requirements. Children from nations outside these groups must obtain a visa to reunite with a parent who holds residency or citizenship in Germany.
