In a related announcement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. will target individuals associated with what is described as racially discriminatory policies against minority groups in South Africa, particularly the Afrikaner community. Rubio conveyed this policy through his official X account, indicating that it would apply to foreign nationals who engage in or support race-based discrimination, incite violence, or facilitate land confiscation without compensation in South Africa.
