Six Goalkeepers Who Scored in Premier League History

Since the Premier League's establishment in 1992, only six goalkeepers have scored, marking a rare achievement in football. The first was Peter Schmeichel, who scored for Aston Villa against Everton in October 2001, despite his team's 3-2 loss.

Brad Friedel followed in February 2004, netting for Blackburn Rovers against Charlton Athletic, also in a 3-2 defeat. In 2007, Paul Robinson of Tottenham Hotspur scored a unique goal from a long free-kick that bounced over Watford's Ben Foster.

Tim Howard became the fourth goalkeeper to score in January 2012 with a powerful clearance that went over Bolton Wanderers' Ádám Bogdán. Asmir Begović scored for Stoke City just 13 seconds into a match against Southampton in November 2013, making it one of the longest goals in professional football.

The latest goalkeeper to score is Alisson Becker of Liverpool, who headed a stoppage-time winner against West Bromwich Albion in May 2021, becoming the first goalkeeper to score with a header in Premier League history.
