Former Senator Abubakar Umar Gada Returns to PDP in Sokoto State Amid Political Turbulence

Abubakar Umar Gada, who represented Sokoto East Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011, has announced his return to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Gada accused the former governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, of undermining the ADC in the state due to alleged lack of leadership commitment.

Gada's move is seen as strategic by political analysts, with efforts underway to reclaim the PDP following its loss in 2023. Despite Gada's return, the Sokoto PDP's public secretary, Hassan Sahabi Sayinnaw, denied his membership registration, calling it a "public secret." The move has also seen support from key figures like Alhaji Hamza Maiturari Yabo and Hajia Mariam Kabi, who are mobilizing women and youth to rally behind Gada for the 2027 governorship election, emphasizing his grassroots connections and experience.
