Gambia to Learn from Nigeria's TETFund for Education Financing

The Government of The Gambia has announced its intention to send officials from its newly established Tertiary and Higher Education Trust Fund to Nigeria for a study tour of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). This announcement was made by the Gambian Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Prof.

Pierre Gomez, during a meeting with TETFund's Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, in Abuja. The study tour aims to allow Gambian officials to learn from TETFund's experience in financing tertiary education, research, infrastructure, and capacity development.

Prof. Gomez noted that Gambian authorities have been following TETFund's activities and achievements, which inspired them to create a similar funding mechanism.

The visit also seeks TETFund's assistance as The Gambia develops its operations. Gomez was accompanied by key officials, including Isatou Auber, Dr.

Samba Sowe, and Ndey Anta Taal. Echono welcomed the delegation and discussed TETFund's evolution and its critical interventions in Nigeria's higher education sector.
